Abstract
Adenosine and related compounds are presynaptic inhibitors of acetylcholine release from nerve endings in the myenteric plexus (1,2,3). This inhibition is probably mediated by specific cell-surface receptors (4) and the possibility that they mediate physiological neuro-modulation at nerves in the plexus has been suggested (5).
