Abstract

Cis trans isomerization of olefins has been and still is a topic of large interest to photochemists from several points of view: mechanistic considerations, photostationary state reached after prolonged irradiation and energy transfer to and from the olefins. Furthermore the ethylenic bond being a relatively simple chromophore, its properties can easily be approached by theoretical considerations.
