Abstract
In 1943, Dr. J.J. Polak made a comprehensive calculation of national income in Indonesia for the years 1921–1939. An abridged extract (Polak 41 *) was drawn for publication from the original manuscript, which had been intended for a limited distribution only. The author has consented to have this study included in its entirety in this volume in the series ‘Changing Economy in Indonesia’.
