Samenvatting
Dit hoofdstuk richt zich op de rol van de huisarts en POH in het herstelproces van psychische patiënten. Daarbij is van belang dat zorgvuldig wordt gekeken naar de fase van herstel die aan de orde is, waarbij eigen regie waar mogelijk wordt aangemoedigd, maar tegelijkertijd de cliënt niet onder het mom van eigen regie op zichzelf teruggeworpen wordt. Termen als binnenperspectief, buitenperspectief en herstelondersteunende zorg worden uitgediept. Huisarts en POH dienen op de hoogte te zijn van herstel-initiatieven, zoals recovery colleges, peer support-groepen en herstelcursussen in de regio, en de cliënt uit te nodigen en aan te moedigen daarvan gebruik te maken. De weg naar herstel kan lang zijn en de cliënt in kwestie misschien nooit symptoomvrij, maar huisarts en POH kunnen op deze weg voor een cliënt van grote waarde zijn door hem hoop en perspectief te blijven bieden op een waardig, waar mogelijk zelfredzaam, zinvol leven. De weg naar herstel wordt gedemonstreerd aan de hand van een doorlopende casus over een psychosegevoelige patiënt.
