Abstract
The structure, instruments, and orbital characteristics of the TIROS satellites are described. Examples of cloud pictures are presented, and the problems of interpretation discussed. Possibilities for improved meteorological satellites are mentioned.

Satellites météorologiques. La structure, les instruments et les caractéristiques orbitaux des satellites TIROS sont décrits. Des exemples de photos de nuages sont présentés et le problème de l’interprétation est discuté. On signale des possibilités de construction de satellites météorologiques améliorées.

Метеорологические спутники. Дано описание конструкции, приборов и орбитальных характеристик спутников ТАИРОС. Представлены фотографии облаков и описаны проблемы их интерпретации. Указаны воз можности усовершенствования метеорологических спутников.
