The laminar boundary layer on a rotating sphere

  • Chapter

Summary

The velocity distribution in the incompressible laminar boundary layer of a rotating sphere is obtained numerically on the Manchester University Electronic Computer for different values of the rotation. The skin frictional force is calculated and the effect of spin on the point of separation of the boundary layer is determined.
