On the boundary layer in electron stream

Summary

Howard’s theory on the motion of an electron stream and his equation are applied by the author to a specific problem of the boundary layer of an electron stream. By that it is meant that the electron stream is subject to conditions identical to those in a stream of an ordinary fluid in the vicinity of a wall or a body. The final equations are associated with the forms known in the literature and, consequently, may be possibly solved by further approximative or numerical treatment.

Professor of Gas Dynamics and Theoretical Aerodynamics. The author acknowledges with thanks a considerable amount of help in the derivation of equations obtained from Mr. H. A. Hassan, a student of his, a research associate, University of Illinois.
