Abstract

Sports injuries are among the most common injuries and therefore present a significant problem in return to play. Physiologic processes after injuries are often neglected while much more attention is being paid to the management of symptoms. However, comprehension of healing processes is becoming more and more important as therapies are getting increasingly focused on specific molecular and cellular processes. Some tricks and tips will be described to better potentiate scar tissue and tendon tissue, including growth factors, healthy living habits, protein supplementation, hyperbaric oxygen, anti-fibrotic therapies and mechanical stimulation.
