Zusammenfassung

In diesem Kapitel wird zunächst auf die Motorikentwicklung eingegangen. Während am Anfang der Entwicklung angeborene Reflexe dominieren, ist der Säugling im Anschluss zunehmend zu gezielten Handlungen in der Lage. Durch verbesserte motorische Kompetenzen (wie beispielsweise die Fähigkeit zum Krabbeln oder Laufen) erweitert sich der Aktionsradius des Säuglings und damit gleichzeitig die sensorische Stimulation. Der Säugling ist nicht mehr gezwungen abzuwarten, bis sich interessante Objekte nähern, sondern er kann sie nun aktiv aufsuchen. Parallel zur Motorikentwicklung verbessern sich die sensorischen Kompetenzen des Säuglings. Im zweiten Teil des Kapitels wird demensprechend insbesondere auf die Entwicklung der visuellen und auditiven Kompetenzen im Säuglingsalter eingegangen.
