Zusammenfassung
Die Bedeutung von Freundschaft für Jugendliche in Wohnheimen wird erörtert unter Berücksichtigung des Spannungsfelds zwischen Freundschaften und Peers sowie der Peer Culture. Die Freundschaft vermag die Möglichkeiten und Ressourcen im Heilungs- und persönlichen Entwicklungsprozess in Wohnheim-Settings zu ergänzen. Die Argumentation basiert auf zwei Dynamiken: Erstens wird in der Wohnheim-Betreuung ein Universalismus angestrebt, um die Peer Culture zu stärken. Bei diesem Ansatz werden Beziehungshierarchien unter den Jugendlichen vermieden. Der Autor argumentiert, dass dieser Universalismus Jugendlichen die Chance verwehrt, von sozialen Parametern innerhalb persönlicher Beziehungen zu lernen. Zweitens wird beim Ansatz von institutionell regulierten Beziehungen die Möglichkeit von privaten Beziehungen klar negiert. Der Autor vertritt den Standpunkt, dass Freundschaften im Gegensatz zu Peer-Beziehungen den Jugendlichen ermöglichen, Beziehungen außerhalb von institutioneller Kultur, Struktur und Normen zu erkunden. Das Kapitel knüpft an die Arbeit von Christoph Steinebach an, in der er spezifische Kontexte definiert, in denen Wohnheime Freundschaften unter Jugendlichen unterstützen können, um den Sozialisationsprozess über die Zeit in Wohnheimen hinaus zu fördern.
