Zusammenfassung
Chronische Schmerzen im Kindes- und Jugendalter sind häufig und betreffen etwa ein Viertel bis ein Drittel aller Kinder und Jugendlichen. Risikofaktoren für chronische Schmerzen im Kindes- und Jugendalter sind vor allem ein höheres Alter, das weibliche Geschlecht und Stress. Insgesamt 5 % aller Kinder und Jugendlichen leiden in erheblichem Maße unter chronischen Schmerzen und benötigen eine interdisziplinäre Schmerztherapie. Das entspricht etwa 350.000 Kindern und Jugendlichen in Deutschland.
