Zusammenfassung

Schmerzhafte Erkrankungen sind bei Menschen mit Demenz sehr häufig. Bei dieser vulnerablen Patientengruppe stellt sowohl die Schmerzerfassung als auch die Schmerztherapie das Betreuerteam vor besondere Herausforderungen. Eine angepasste Kommunikation ist Grundvoraussetzung für eine qualitativ hochwertige Schmerzbetreuung. Für nichtkommunikative Patienten wurden Skalen entwickelt, die auch bei diesen Menschen eine Schmerzgraduierung ermöglichen, welche die Grundvoraussetzung für eine adäquate Therapie ist. Die Schmerztherapie bei Menschen mit Demenz muss in ein multimodales Konzept integriert werden, welches neben der nötigen medikamentösen Therapie auch physiotherapeutische, psychologische, aber auch invasive Verfahren beinhaltet.
