Zusammenfassung

In vielen Arbeiten zur Inzidenz genitaler Melanome werden Vulvamelanome und vaginale Melanome zusammengefasst. Nach Daten des SEER-Programms (Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results) des National Cancer Institute liegt die Inzidenz der malignen Melanome der Vulva und Vagina in der kaukasischen Bevölkerung bei rund 0,1–0,2 Fälle pro 100.000 Einwohner pro Jahr. Dabei betreffen 1,3 % aller Melanomdiagnosen der Frau die Vulva und 0,3 % die Vagina (Weinstock 1994). Betroffene Patientinnen sind typischerweise zwischen 60 und 80 Jahre alt.
