Zusammenfassung
Dieses Kapitel beleuchtet die Psychologie im modernen Spitzensport: Welche Rituale und Bräuche nutzen Sportler, um sich optimal auf einen Wettkampf vorzubereiten? Psychologische Prozesse wie die Bedürfnisse nach Kontrolle und Zugehörigkeit, soziale Vergleichsprozesse, die Wirkung von Körpersprache und viele weitere spielen eine wichtige Rolle vor, während und nach einem sportlichen Wettbewerb. Für Zuschauer ist Sport mit einer Reihe von positiven Effekten verknüpft, die das „Fan sein“ nicht nur angenehm, sondern auch identitätsstiftend wirken lassen. Die Bedeutung von psychologischer Forschung und Perspektivenübernahme ist sowohl aus Gründen der Leistungssteigerung für Sportler als auch aus moralischen Überlegungen erforderlich.
