Preoperative Evaluation of the Breast Reduction Patient

Abstract

Breast reduction can be one of the most gratifying breast procedures performed by a plastic surgeon. Not only can the physical symptoms related to the size of the breast be alleviated, but also the physical appearance of the breast is greatly improved as a result of the procedure. However, to perform this procedure safely, a proper preoperative evaluation must be performed in order to maximize the quality of the aesthetic result while minimizing the risk for complications. This chapter will outline the basic considerations that should be taken into account for the patient who presents for breast reduction.
