FormalPara DefinitionIn infektiösem Stuhlmaterial französischer Patienten entdeckte, virusähnliche Partikel, die für sporadisch auftretende, Non-A-, Non-B-Hepatitiden verantwortlich gemacht wurden.
FormalPara BeschreibungAufgrund der Herkunft der erstbeschriebenen Patienten aus Frankreich wurden die Partikel zunächst als „hepatitis French (for origin) virus“ oder HFV bezeichnet. Die Existenz von HFV und deren Status als echte humanpathogene Hepatitisviren blieb bis heute unbestätigt.
