FormalPara Synthese – Verteilung – Abbau – EliminationVigabatrin wird im Gastrointestinaltrakt rasch und vollständig resorbiert und zum größten Teil unverändert im Urin ausgeschieden.

FormalPara PathophysiologieVigabatrin wird zur Behandlung infantiler Spasmen sowie in Kombination mit anderen Antiepileptika zur Behandlung von Patienten mit fokalen Anfällen eingesetzt, wenn andere Arzneimittelkombinationen nicht ausreichend wirksam waren. Als Nebenwirkungen werden u. a. Benommenheit, Kopfschmerz, Psychosen und Verwirrtheit angegeben. Lebensbedrohliche toxische Effekte bei Überdosierung wurden bisher nicht beschrieben.
