FormalPara BeschreibungNeben dem Beutler-Spot-Test (s. u. Galaktose-1-Phosphat-Uridyltransferase) früher verbreiteter Screeningtest für Galaktosämie, der erhöhte Konzentrationen von Galaktose und Galaktose-6-Phosphat im Serum nachweist. Das Prinzip beruht auf einer Resistenzentwicklung von Escherichia coli gegen den Bakteriophagen C21 in Anwesenheit von Galaktose. Das Bakterienwachstum um eine Blutprobe ist deshalb proportional zur Galaktosekonzentration in der Probe. Die Untersuchung erfolgt mit auf Filterpapier getrockneten Blutproben.
