FormalPara BeschreibungDer Begriff Glukokinase wird auf die Hexokinase Typ IV angewendet. Sie hat eine hohe Km (Michaelis-Menten-Konstante) für Glukose, sodass sie erst bei höheren Glukosekonzentrationen aktiv wird. Im Pankreas ist sie für die Regulation der Insulinsekretion von Bedeutung. Defekte der Glukokinase liegen dem MODY Typ II zugrunde, der mit einer milden Hyperglykämie einhergeht, die meist rein diätetisch therapiert werden kann und eine gute Prognose hat.
