Abstract

This work is concerned with the mechanical properties of composite materials consisting of two phases which have linear isotropic elastic or viseoelastie properties, the geometry of the phases being such that the composites are themselves mechanically isotropic. The results for the viseoelastic case should have application to filled polymeric materials and composites formed from mixtures of two incompatible polymers.
