Zusammenfassung
Zytokine werden von den meisten Körperzellen nach Stimulation synthetisiert und sezerniert. Sie wirken in der Regel lokal über Oberflächenrezeptoren und aktivieren Signaltransduktionskaskaden, die zu veränderter Genexpression, Stoffwechselaktivität, Zelldifferenzierung, Proliferation, Migration und Apoptose führen können. Unterschiedliche Zytokine können die gleiche Signaltransduktionskaskase aktivieren (Redundanz).Andererseits kann ein bestimmtes Zytokin auf verschiedene Zelltypen einwirken und unterschiedliche Antworten hervorrufen (Pleiotropie).
