Zusammenfassung
Als Intermediärstoffwechsel werden die enzymatischen Vorgänge und deren Regulation bezeichnet, in denen Kohlenhydrate, Lipide, Aminosäuren sowie deren Verwandte wie Purine, Pyrimidine und Porphyrine in der Zelle umgesetzt werden. Die biosynthetischen Reaktionen fassen dagegen diejenigen Vorgänge zusammen, bei denen aus einfachen Bausteinen die Makromoleküle der Zelle synthetisiert werden. Zu ihnen gehören neben Polysacchariden vor allem Proteine und Nucleinsäuren sowie eine Reihe von Lipiden.
