Abstract
The purposes of the present work were 1. the investigation of the various stages of carbide formation, 2. the identification of different carbides at various stages of carbide formation. We used the usual Müller’s type field electron emission microscope. Special appendices filled with various carburisators (benzol and others) were sealed up to the microscope bulb. The conditions of carburisation of W and Mo needles were reproducible and were strictly controlled.
