Engl. core inflation; besondere Kennzahlen (sogenannte Kerninflationsraten), die angeben, wie sich die Verbraucherpreise entwickeln, wenn bestimmte Güter des Warenkorbs nicht berücksichtigt werden, zumeist solche mit erfahrungsgemäß stark schwankenden Preisen, etwa weil diese direkt vom Ölpreis abhängen. Bei Berechnung der Inflations-Rate werden also z.B. Preise für Energie, also vor allem Heizöl, Kraftstoffe, Strom und Gas ausgeblendet.
