Zusammenfassung
Zentrale Aspekte der „Intimisierung des Öffentlichen“ sind ein Bedeutungszuwachs von Emotionen und eine zunehmende Fokussierung auf Personen in der politischen Kommunikation (Imhof 2011). Normativ betrachtet lassen sich beide Aspekte als Gefahr für die Demokratie interpretieren. Denn: Emotionalisierung und Personalisierung stehen in dieser Sichtweise für eine „inhaltliche Entleerung“ medienvermittelter Kommunikation und damit für einen Verlust ihrer Rationalität.
