Die Effekte von politischem Interesse und Wissen auf das Wahlverhalten euroskeptischer Bürger bei Europawahlen

Zusammenfassung

Die niedrige Wahlbeteiligung und der hohe Stimmenanteil für euroskeptische Parteien bei der Europawahl 2014 gelten als Zeichen einer zunehmend euroskeptischen Öffentlichkeit. Doch was bewegt manche kritische Bürger zur Wahl euroskeptischer Parteien, während andere der Europawahl gleich ganz fernbleiben? Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird die Rolle von politischem Interesse und politischem Wissen für das Wahlverhalten euroskeptischer Bürger bei Europawahlen untersucht. Die empirische Analyse auf Basis von Nachwahlumfragen (EES 2014) zeigt, dass sowohl Interesse als auch Wissen die Einflüsse von Einstellungen zur EU auf die Partizipations- und die Wahlentscheidung konditionieren. Während politisches Interesse vor allem für die Mobilisierung euroskeptischer Bürger von entscheidender Bedeutung ist (Wahlteilnahme), vereinfacht politisches Wissen die Identifizierung einer nahestehenden, euroskeptischen Partei (Wahlentscheidung).
