Zusammenfassung
Grundlegend für den informationstheoretischen Ansatz ist die Annahme, dass alle Nachrichten einen spezifischen Informationswert besitzen. Dieser Informationswert hängt ausschließlich davon ab, wie neu und überraschend eine Nachricht ist. Eine Nachricht ist umso überraschender und ihr Informationswert damit umso höher, je unwahrscheinlicher das Ereignis ist, von dem sie berichtet.
