Im 17. Kapitel werden die klassischen kombinatorischen Resultate über Permutationen, Kombinationen und Variationen hergeleitet. Im Zuge der Implementation dieser Techniken auf dem Computer wird das Konzept der Rekursion vorgeführt. Weitere Themen sind Binomialkoeffizienten, das Pascalsche Dreieck, der binomische Lehrsatz und die Potenzmenge.
