Zusammenfassung
„Tissue Engineered Products“ gelten als Wegbereiter für die Entwicklung komplexer künstlicher Organe, und die biomedizinische Forschung in diesem Bereich boomt. Nichtsdestotrotz ist die Situation hinsichtlich des ethisch gerechtfertigten und klinisch sinnvollen Einsatzes solcher Produkte noch vielfach ungeklärt. Dies drückt sich auch in schwierigen Zulassungsprozeduren aus, bei denen einige Hürden überwunden werden müssen. Der folgende Beitrag erklärt die Situation der Entwicklung am Beispiel der neuentwickelten Technologien auf dem Weg zu künstlichen Niere und zeigt hier den Stand der Technik. Weiterhin wird grundsätzlich das Verfahren der Zulassung inklusive der dafür verantwortlichen Instanzen benannt und die Interessenslage der biotechnologischen Industrie in diesem Bereich skizziert. Unklar ist sicherlich noch, inwieweit die Einführung solcher neuen personalisierten medizinischen Konstrukte und Implantate auch kostenmäßig abgebildet werden kann.
