Zusammenfassung

Nach unseren gegenwärtigen Kenntnissen über den Hirnstoffwechsel überrascht es nicht, daß eine qualitative Mangelernährung, die unter anderem zu einer Hypovitaminose führt, unter bestimmten Umständen Strukturveränderungen im Nervensystem hervorruft. Klinische Erfahrungen und experimentelle Forschungen haben ergeben, daß die Veränderungen nicht nur das periphere Nervensystem — wie z. B. bei Beriberi — sondern auch bestimmte Abschnitte des Hirns und des Rückenmarks betreffen können.
