Zusammenfassung
Entgegen früheren Erwartungen ist das Virus der Lymphocytären Choriomeningitis (LCM) nur verhältnismäßig selten für das von Arvid Wallgren (1925) umgrenzte Syndrom der Meningitis „aseptica“acuta, für eine akute abakterielle oder „lymphocytäre“Meningitis (s. S. 106) verantwortlich. Die Bezeichnung des Erregers darf auch nicht zu der irrigen Annahme verleiten, Infektionen mit dem Virus der LCM führten immer zu einer Meningitis. Vielmehr ist dem LCM-Virus ein breites klinisches Spektrum zuzuordnen, das keine für das pathogene Agens spezifischen Merkmale erkennen läßt.
