Abstract

Glasses have been extensively studied by ESR during the past two decades. But very little infomation was obtained concerning the electron spin-lattice relaxation in these materials. However, anomalies have been pointed out in the amorphous systems for the thermal conductivity, the optical linewidth or the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time. The amplitude and thermal dependences of these parameters were unusual and different from those of crystalline solids.We have measured the T1(T) dependence in silicated glasses and baryum vanadate (B.V.) glasses doped with Fe2O3. The modulation method has been used. It allows short T1 (10–6 to 10–10 s) determination.
