Zusammenfassung

Somatotherapie umfaßt mehr als nur medikamentöse Behandlung. Prinzipiell sind unter diesem Begriff alle Behandlungsverfahren zu verstehen, bei denen eine meßbare materielle (biologische) Einwirkung zur meßbaren Verbesserung pathologisch gestörter körperlicher oder seelisch-geistiger Funktionen führt. Die vermittelnden Intermediärprozesse können dabei durchaus “black-box”-Charakter haben, d. h. unbekannt sein. Neben der Pharmakotherapie, Elektrokrampftherapie, dem Schlafentzug gehören Massage, Krankengymnastik, allgemeines körperliches Aktivitätstraining, naturheilkundliche Verfahren und ernährungswissenschaftliche Ansätze im Prinzip zu den somatotherapeutischen Verfahren im allgemeinen.
