Zusammenfassung

Unter Erbrechen (engl. vomiting) versteht man die forcierte Austreibung von Magen- oder Darminhalt aus Oesophagus und Mund. Die dazu nötigen komplizierten Bewegungsabläufe sind im Brechreflex koordiniert. Charakteristisch sind die heftigen unwillkürlichen Bauchmuskelkontraktionen, die den Mageninhalt herauspressen. Erbrechen ist in unterschiedlichem Maße mit Nausea, Würgen und mannigfaltigen Zeichen vegetativer Dysfunktion verbunden.
