Abstract

The tridimensional representation on slowness curves of the variation of displacements as a function of the angle of propagation can give a global estimation of wood anisotropy. Due to its fibrous nature, the incident ultrasonic energy injected in wood deviates from propagation direction, in different ways in each anisotropic plane. The calculation of the flux deviation from the propagation direction strongly depends on the off-diagonal constants values.
