HIV-Positive Patienten in der Chirurgischen Poliklinik

Summary

The increase HIV infections will lead to large numbers of HIV-positive patients undergoing surgery. In 1987, 62 (3%) of 2043 patients in our outpatient department for general surgery were HIV-positive; five had manifest AIDS. Patient data: median age 33; 55 males; 17 drug dependent. Diagnoses: 22 abscesses; 19 skin or lymph node biopsies; 11 cases of proctologic disease. Therapy: 38 operations on an outpatient basis; 12 admissions to the hospital. Thus caps, glasses, surgical masks, gowns and gloves should be worn during surgery if contact with mucosa or body fluids of the patient is possible.

Zusammenfassung

Zunehmende HIV-Infektionen bedingen eine wachsende Zahl HIV-Positiver in der Chirurgie. 1987 waren von 2043 Patienten der allgemein- und abdominalchirurgischen Poliklinik 62 (3%) HIV-positiv, 5 davon mit manifestem AIDS. Patientengut: Alter (Median) 33; männlich 55; drogenabhängig 17. Diagnosen: Abszeß 22; Probeexcision 19; proctologische Erkrankung 11. Therapie: ambulante Operation 38; stationäre Aufnahme 12. Konsequenz: Tragen von Haube, Schutzbrille, Mundschutz, Kittel und Handschuhen bei möglichem Kontakt mit Schleimhaut/Sekret des Patienten.
