Zusammenfassung

Der Flugzeugbau ist nach Überwindung der prinzipiellen Schwierigkeiten in einem Stadium angekommen, in dem es sich nicht mehr darum handelt, das Problem des Fliegens an sich zu lösen, sondern Maximalleistungen an Geschwindigkeit, Dauer, Reichweite, Gipfelhöhe und Wirtschaftlichkeit zu erzielen.

Abstract

Propellers with blades capable of mechanical pitch adjustment have useful applications in air and marine work. The purpose of such adjustment is generally to secure, under changing conditions of speed, the greatest development of thrust for the available engine torque. The presentation herein proposed consists of the three coefficients given at the head of section 2, a thrust coefficient σ, a speed coefficient ϕ and a revolutions coefficient ν. It will be observed that thrust, speed and revolutions appear simply in the numerator of their respective coefficients and torque appears in a functional form in the denominator.
