Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag soll die regionale Industriepolitik in Japan, die in den 80er Jahren die wirtschaftlichen Umstrukturierungsprozesse unterstützte, dargestellt und analysiert werden. Die Betrachtungen konzentrieren sich auf die Rolle der Präfekturen (Bezirksregierungen), also der regionalisierten Regionalpolitik. Dieses Politikfeld ist im japanischen System der kombiniert öffentlich-privat organisierten Unterstützung für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU) entscheidend, daher wird es in einem zweiten Teil näher untersucht.

Eine frühere Version dieses Beitrags wurde auf dem 33. Jahrestreffen der Western Regional Science Association in Tucson, Arizona im Februar 1994 präsentiert. Der Verfasser dankt-Kingsley E.
