Abstract
The tissue Doppler imaging is a sensitive and accurate method for the quantitative assessment of segmental and global cardiac function. STE method overcomes some limitations of tissue Doppler imaging, allowing to assess myocardial deformation and function. STE allows to obtain angle-independent measurements, relatively insensitive to cardiac translational movements.
STE is a fundamental instrument that allows early reveal structural alterations especially when the functional classic parameters are not yet altered.
