Tension-Type Headache

Abstract

Tension-Type Headache is the most common of the primary headache disorders, yet it is overshadowed by the less common but more disabling primary headache disorder: migraine. It is characterized by bilateral dull or pressing pain of mild to moderate intensity, accompanied by photophobia or phonophobia but not by nausea or vomiting. Presented are the pathophysiology, diagnostic criteria, and treatment options.
