Abstract
This study examines areas with potential future growth in resident populations through political implication from population expansion in non-urban areas. Using big data Hwang Ze and Danggok districts in Gyeongsangbuk-do, South Korea, were chosen as research subjects owing to their proximity to Jillyang-eup of Gyeongsain-si, where rural and industrial areas are in contact and urbanization is taking place for upgrading non urban area using big data. The study focuses on improving settlement conditions by upgrading the use of the current general residential area. Using big data The studied area has seen a steady increase in external influent population owing to recent urban development projects, creation of an industrial complex, and district unit planning projects. The possible expansion of influent population was reviewed, along with regional vitalization and residential environment, by projecting outcomes from reclassifying parts of the general residential area based on the big data from the 2020 and 2030 in future Gyeongsan-si basic plans. The results showed that additional residential land must be secured to accommodate the projected population growth. Therefore, this study suggests changing the use of some areas of Hwang Ze and Danggok districts, particularly to subdivide general residential areas for better district planning. Using ICT technolcgies.
