Abstract
The cervical spine sustains the horizontal gaze and supports the mass of the head. It has widest range of motion comparison to the rest of the spine. Authors describe a case of highly unstable cervical fracture due to ankylosing spondylitis successfully treated with long-posterior fixation bridging across the cervicothoracic junction. Indications, preparations, technical aspects of the posterior cervical long stabilization as well as medical considerations are described in step-by-step fashion.
