Abstract
Basal cell carcinoma is a common, generally indolent skin cancer that is locally destructive if left untreated. Complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice, although systemic treatment with a hedgehog pathway inhibitor can be considered for locally advanced or high-risk lesions.
