Abstract
Acute aortic dissection needs immediate surgical attention. It is important to know the classification system, which is based on the location of dissection flap. A surgeon should know the absolute indications for operation (type A dissection, dissections with acute interruption of flow to visceral arteries, and acute limb ischemia). Appropriate consultations from cardiac surgery and vascular surgery should be obtained promptly.
