Abstract

Touch controllers are available from a number of different companies. Most touch controllers have similar features. Some are more feature rich than others. All touch controllers require tuning. Some controllers have selectable drive voltage levels. A higher drive voltage can help overcome noise and get through thicker cover lens materials. Selecting a touch controller often begins by identifying the number of required electrodes which is defined by the electrode pitch. A tighter pitch provides higher accuracy and supports smaller touches, but it also requires a larger controller with more I/O at greater cost.
