Being ‘Different’

  • Chapter
  • First Online:
Experiences of Adults Following an Autism Diagnosis

Abstract

This chapter explores the experiences of our interviewees with respect to their own being ‘different’. How did they notice they were not the same as others? How do they think they deviate from the norm? And what do they think and how do they feel about that? This chapter provides us with numerous stories from people who have had first-hand experience of not fitting in that share the strange situations they found themselves in.
