Abstract
This Chapter provides an introduction to the whole book and establishes the book’s subject as elderly people between young adulthood and those in the final stages of life due to advanced age; we describe the global systemic crisis adapting existing social institutions to society’s new age structure, as well as stereotypes among both society and experts.
