Abstract
Diversity and Inclusion in Quality Patient Care, Second Edition: Your Story/Our Story—A Case-Based Compendium is divided into several parts that examine the role of bias and microaggressions in health care. The chapters in Part I are built on the topics covered in our first textbook, Diversity and Inclusion in Quality Patient Care, to include discussions on unconscious bias, microaggressions, gender and transgender bias, cultural competencies in the deaf patient, and the impact of bias on global health care. The remaining chapters function as teaching cases and examine the way bias affects patients, medical and nursing students, resident, nurses, staff, advanced practice providers, and attending physicians.
