Abstract

Redundancy and retirement are very different situations but the similarities make them worth clubbing together. Both constitute a significant life event, they may be enforced or inevitable, they may be dreaded or keenly anticipated, feared or favoured and they certainly beckon a significant change in circumstances and a different way forward.
