Abstract

The stories of practice recognised here contribute to the shaping of ethical insights. It is a trajectory often overlooked in the shaping of performance and assumptions made about collaboration as a generative tool. This chapter frames the sense of community evident in the work of practitioners involved in dance, theatre, and performance who seek in their work to blur boundaries between hierarchic roles, disciplinary identities, and knowledge. By considering our own ethical stance, we can explore a sense of self in relation to the others with whom we work. Recognising how we might respond in the midst of ethical challenges requires agility. Entwining our critical awareness, creative acumen, and aesthetic sensibility allows us to recognise the contribution they make to our self-identity and our social sensitivity.
